Analysis of Emu oil

Samples of emu oil were analysed for vitamin K2, according to a method developed at Charles Sturt University based on literature methods (see below). This method measures one of the types of vitamin K2, known as menaquinone-4 or MK-4.

Previous desktop research determined that natto was the food with the highest reported vitamin K2 levels, with values in the range 800-1000 μg/100 g (EFSA Panel on Dietetic Products, 2017). Three of the oils tested, all from the same supplier, were in this range.
